Feeling a bit Minty Fresh

25 Feb

Until recently, I haven’t given the cringe-worthy 80s bathroom tile color a chance … but now I’m obsessed. I went shopping over the weekend and am now 100% diggin’ this minty hue. I ended up with an array of mint pieces…Mint tops, dresses, shorts … oh my.

Not only is it a universally flattering color, there’s no other color (at least in my Pantone color palette) that soothes quite like mint green. It always looks so fresh, comfortable and feminine. The calming shade is a beautiful mix between blue and green and gives off a light, airy vibe. I’m a big fan of pairing mint with a neutral to add a pop of color. The whimsical color gives a refreshing twist to your look.

We’ve been getting quite a few snow storms within the past couple of days here in CT, and if anyone knows me, you know I love snow. There’s just something so whimsical and calming about watching the flakes as they fall slowly down from the sky.

I write this as I watch  our backyard slowly transform into a winder wonderland … while browsing Etsy. Pure bliss.

Ear bands have been … well, my thing this winter. They’re perfect for New England winters full of chilly air and frequent snow falls … also perfect to mask not-so-great hair days ;).

Though I swooned over most of the ones I stumbled across, these from Love, LLC really caught my eye. What left me swooning? The flowers are removable on each ear band! For indecisive broads like myself, they’re the perfect solution for constantly changing your look. And with a price tag that my wallet approves of, how can you go wrong?

Let it snow!

Corpse Chic*

11 Oct

Bones are back, baby. And I’m not talking about the scrawny models on the runways. Not just for Halloween anymore, skulls are being stamped on just about everything from jewelry to blouses and have taken over fashion.

Alexander McQueen helped kick-start the trend for skulls not long back, and thank the grateful dead, because I am the biggest fan on this trend wagon! Infatuated with all things skull inspired, I recently bought a few great skull pieces——Cute, glitzy, and sometimes spooky, skulls are surprisingly versatile.

Whether a skull is a pleasant surprise on a chic charm bracelet or a statement print on a scarf, they bring a certain edge to your look.

Aztec Lovin’

28 Aug

Geometric shapes, warm colors, and coarse fabrics are filling the racks in the form of tunics, skirts, and shirts this season. Yep, I’m talking about the Aztec trend. The bold tribal pattern is becoming all the rage this season and I couldn’t be more excited. Bold colors are favored this season, so be sure to add a few pieces to your closet. The tribal pattern adds drama and definition, and certainly an ethnic vibe, to your look.

Tone down the bright, bold pattern with a pair of black skinnies or take your tribal look from day to night by swapping your flats for a pair of heels and a great clutch.

What are your thoughts on the Aztec trend?

Cause Baby You’re a Firework

2 Jul

It’s that time of year again to celebrate our independence … which also happens to be one of my favorite holidays. Any holiday that encourages fireworks is a huge hit in my book. While rocking our USA pride comes naturally, finding an outfit that screams “God Bless America” can be a little daunting. Pulling off our nations lively colors can be intimidating. Sorry USA, but your primary colors aren’t the most flattering. Whether you’re soaking up some rays at the pool or headed to a family BBQ, you’ll need to dress the part. Don’t fret, I’ve channeled my inner patriot and to ensure you look fab for all of your 4th of July adventures.

Rock on your patriotism by pairing classic jean shorts with a solid top. Take things to the next level by adding red, white, and blue accessories. Nothing is quite as Americana as keeping things simple … especially when denim is involved.

Have a picnic during the day and a fun night out later on? Get glam in red, white, and blue by rockin’ a striped summer dress. Stripes are classic and give off a patriotic vibe and perfect as a transitional outfit.

Don’t skimp out on your waterside fun this year. Pair a solid bathing suit (if rockin’ the stars and stripes isn’t your thing) and add patriotic flair with your beach bag and flip flops. You’ll undoubtedly be hotter then a firework and scream USA pride.

If you don’t have anything bedazzled with an American flag, no worries. The simple red, white, and blue color scheme is a quick fix for an easy 4th of July ensemble.

Happy Monday!

Dressed to the Maxi

26 Jun

Like most, I love summer. Lemonade stands, soaking up rays, brightly colored pedicures … all among my summer favorites. One of my recent favorite summer staples is the maxi dress. Maxi’s are the LBD of summer … easy to throw on, perfect for any occasion, and look great on all body types. If you don’t already own one, run out and buy one ASAP. Trust me on this one! This dress will be become your best friend this summer. Available in a variety of patterns and styles, this dress will be your go-to of the season.

“The Office” – Getting dressed for work in the summer is always a hassle. Finding something work appropiate, yet cool enough to eat lunch outside can be tricky. That’s where the maxi comes into play. For the office, cover your bare arms and add structure to your look with a tailored blazer (I love a great blazer!) and add a pair of wedges or heels for height. Accent your waist with a skinny belt and you’ll be the fashionista of the office …

“The Weekend” – When it comes to weekend attire, I always opt for something comfortable, easy to throw on, but yet still looks put together. My soffee shorts & tank days are long gone, so when I’m looking for comfort, yet style on the weekends, I turn to the beloved maxi. Keep things casual with sandals and a fedora you can turn heads and win hearts as you flaunt your style ’round town.

“Date Night” – Not sure what you’re doing or where you’re going for your weekly date night? Throw on a maxi to ensure you’re not under dressed or over dressed for any occasion. Finish your bo-ho date night look with some fun costume jewelery. Bangles and necklaces are the perfect touch!

This floor-length stylish dress is easy to toss on, it keeps you feeling cool in the summer heat, and is comfy-chic. Maximum style and maximum comfort!

What are your thoughts on maxi’s?

Celebrity Style: Lauren Conrad

14 Jun

Anyone who knows me knows that I am completely obsessed with celebrities. If I could, I’d be a paparazzo in a heart beat. There are many A-listers who I adore, but my favorite it-girl has always been my girl Lauren Conrad. Yep, Laguna Beach sucked me in.

Lauren is ambitious, talented and most importantly, has killer fashion sense. Her incredible fashion sense is something I’ve always admired … and slight envied. Simple, yet chic & feminine. My kind of style.

Conveniently, Lauren has two fashion lines (which can be found at Kohls) so emulating her fabulous style is effortless. Her lines consist of her signature girlie look and has a little bit of everything … blouses, skinnies, dresses, even hair accessories.

Lauren Conrad’s clothing is timeless, appropriate for many occasions and absolutely adorable.

Anyone else smitten by Lauren Conrad too?! She needs to be my BFF asap.

The Shops*

17 May

Ah finally a second to muster up a post! I’m sorry for being MIA lately! I spent my weekend in VA to surprise G’s family and haven’t had a second to breathe since I got back. Note to self: never take another day off.

Although I’ve been running at full speed, I did find a second to stop by Target. Thank god! Have ya’ll seen their Shops collection? If you haven’t, run (don’t walk!), to your nearest Target and check it out. It’s absolutely fabulous! You’ll want to buy it all. But I’m starting to understand thats just how Target works. You go for one thing, and come out with a slew of things. The collection contains pieces from smaller specialty shops from all over the United States. The collection includes pet accessories by Polka Dog Bakery, clothing by The Webster, sweet treats by The Candy Store, and beauty products by Cos Bar, and vintage-inspired home decor from The Privet House.

My favorite among the collection are the items from Polka Dog Bakery and Privet House. Ya’ll should know that I have a soft spot for anything pup and home decor related. Polka Dog Bakery provides stylish collars, dog-friendly flavored dog treats, and plushy toys that your dog will without a doubt enjoy. And The Privet House? It’s full of boho-chic patterns and rustic treasures that your home would not be complete without.

The best part is? Every piece in the collection is crazy-affordable! Don’t wait, the shops are a limited-time partnership and only at Target for 6 weeks.

Have you checked it out yet? If so, what are some of your favorites?

Whether you opt for a polka dot blouse or a more subtle polka dot clutch, you really can’t go wrong.

Are you head over heels over polka dots like I am?

Look On The Bright Side of Pink!

21 Mar

I got out of work early yesterday (le gasp!) so I made a quick stop at the mall to pick up a few things before I head to Vegas on Monday. I was on a hunt for some fun shoes for my trip, but didn’t have any luck. Don’t you hate when your searching for something particular but walk out empty handed? It’s the worst! Although I didn’t find the perfect shoe, I did find some other fab pieces! Nearly everything I bought was pink. I’m not usually a pink type of girl, so I was a little surprised by my purchases. March is a tricky month in New England … it’s tough to settle on an outfit because one day it’s 30 degrees outside and the next it’s 65. That’s where pink comes into play. It’s the perfect hue to jazz up those neutrals that you’ve been wearing all winter, yet vibrant enough for those unexpected warmer days. So chic & feminine!

What’s been your go-to color lately?
