Last Minute Touches*

Wow, I can’t believe it’s already Christmas! Merry Christmas Eve! Like many of you, I’ve been baking, shopping, and running around like a crazy Christmas elf to ensure things are perfect for the holiday.

We had a cookie swap at work a few weeks ago and I was pressed for time, so I baked reindeer sugar cookies. Festive, tasty, and quick to make. My kind of cookie.

Ingredients–Cookies
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions
-Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.

-In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.

-Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

Nutella Frosting–Ingredients

-Slowly add in powdered sugar

If you’re headed to family’s house to spend Christmas Eve, be sure to bake these cookies. There’s still time!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Cookie Swap*

16 Dec

SONY DSCWe had a cookie swap at work last week and all of the cookies I came home with were just so tasty that I couldn’t resist sharing with you all. There’s nothing better than a good ol’ fashioned cookie swap–and we sure did have a grand time.

SONY DSCEnjoying homemade Christmas baking is highlight of the season for many of us, but making many different treats from scratch can be time consuming and a lot of work. Stock your freezer with an assortment of cookies, bars, and all things delicious by hosting a cookie exchange! We each baked 6 dozen cookies and come home with a hefty plate with an assortment of cookies. Successful in my book!

The cookies everyone baked were peanut butter kiss cookies, hot chocolate cookies, thumb-print cookies, pecan bars, shortbread cookies, oreo truffles (not in the photographed–these didn’t make it home ;x. So tasty!), and reindeer sugar cookies (post to come)

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to make?

It’s A Feeling*

Anyone else excited that it’s finally acceptable to spread some Christmas cheer? I’ve been listening to Christmas music since July (Christmas in July, helloooo) & have been begging my family to put up all of our trees for weeks now, but they finally complied this weekend. All 20 something trees (it’s a bit of a problem, don’t get me started) are up and as glitzy as ever.

Christmas in my house is no joke. We all love Christmas and decorating our house like little elves has become a family tradition.

I was browsing through Etsy to see if there were any good Christmas finds and I found this little gem. How incredibly perfect.

Does you family get really into Christmas?

Thanksgiving Day Traditions

20 Nov

We all know the common traditions every family does on Thanksgiving. Watch the parade, watch football, and of course take a nap (one of my favorites). While my family does participate in all of those traditions too, we also have a few of our own. Maybe some of ya’ll share my families traditions, or maybe not, but take a look at what my family typically does on Thanksgiving.

One of our favorite things to do after a filling Thanksgiving dinner is to take a stroll around the neighborhood. There’s just something so peaceful about taking in the crisp air while enjoying great conversation.

Yep, you know it. We frequently bring out our favorite board games and have some silly fun! Scrabble, Life, Apples to Apples, whatever the game is, our competitiveness comes out!

My personal favorite? Laughing and sharing old memories! Whether around the dinner table or laying on the couch after a food induced coma, one of our absolute favorite traditions is reminiscing about our favorite family memories. Family first!

What are your favorite traditions?

Etsy Halloween Love

16 Oct

Halloween is only two weeks from today?! Whoa, pump the breaks. After a whirlwind of a month and since I’m in the process of moving, I feel like I haven’t been up to par with my Halloween festiveness. With Halloween swiftly approaching, I rounded up some of my favorite festive accessories from Etsy to help me put my Halloween blues at ease.

What are your favorite Halloween decorations?

Corpse Chic*

11 Oct

Bones are back, baby. And I’m not talking about the scrawny models on the runways. Not just for Halloween anymore, skulls are being stamped on just about everything from jewelry to blouses and have taken over fashion.

Alexander McQueen helped kick-start the trend for skulls not long back, and thank the grateful dead, because I am the biggest fan on this trend wagon! Infatuated with all things skull inspired, I recently bought a few great skull pieces——Cute, glitzy, and sometimes spooky, skulls are surprisingly versatile.

Whether a skull is a pleasant surprise on a chic charm bracelet or a statement print on a scarf, they bring a certain edge to your look.

Monday Motivation*

8 Oct

Happy Monday!! I’m back from Vegas and finally am able to slow things down a bit and catch my breath. Boy does it feel great! Waking up this morning knowing I had to be back in the office (especially in the cooler temperatures!) wasn’t exactly creating the pep in my step/ Thankfully, I found these prints on Etsy and knew it was the perfect motto for Monday.

Oh … and this one was very suiting as well.

Now grab a cup of pumpkin coffee, put on your chic-est Fall outfit, and let’s tackle this Monday.
